Dr. Rivera Rolón is board-certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, Hematopathology, and Cytopathology. She earned her medical degree with honors from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra. She completed her residency in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Rivera Rolón went on to complete a Hematopathology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a Cytopathology fellowship at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
Dr. Rivera Rolón seamlessly blends private practice with academic responsibilities. She serves as the Director of Cytopathology at CorePlus Servicios Clínicos y Patológicos and holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pathology at the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. In addition, she oversees hematopathology services as the Technical Supervisor at the Puerto Rico Medical Services Administration (ASEM). Dr. Rivera Rolón also currently serves as President of the Academy of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of Puerto Rico (APML).
Her passion for pathology began during her studies in Cytotechnology. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and actively mentors medical students, pathology trainees, and cytologists. Her primary areas of interest include gynecological cytology, ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration, and lymphoid malignancies.
